Why should you watch the U.S. Open?
The U.S Open is the most prestigious event in the golf calendar. It’s the tournament that sees the best of the best go head-to-head. It has a rich history and is known for always crowning the best golfer of the year – as it’s the only one of the four majors that can’t be won by a first-timer. While the Masters is a historic competition that is always good to watch, it is often won by players who have never previously held the title.
The Open is great too, but it has a reputation for being a tournament that is won by golfers who are at the end of their careers. The Open is also the most scenic event of the year as it’s played at a variety of different golf courses. There is no course that is considered as host to the Open every year. Instead, the Open rotates between courses in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Who is currently favoured to win?
Depending on your opinion, the favourite to win the tournament is either Dustin Johnson or Rory McIlroy. Johnson won the U.S. Open in 2016, which was his first ever Major tournament win. He is currently ranked as the World No. 1 golfer. Rory McIlroy is another golfer who has won the U.S. Open before – he won it in 2014, and then also in 2012. The current ranking of the two golfers has caused some debate, with some experts suggesting that Johnson’s current ranking is due to him not playing in as many tournaments as other golfers.
